Crowne Plaza organised a two-part event on April 14, 2026, to usher in the Bengali New Year 1433, said a press release.
The celebration featured a vibrant cultural fair called ‘Esho He Baishakh Uthsob’ followed by a culinary feast named ‘Dhakaiya Roshona Bilash', perfectly blending the country’s timeless local traditions with contemporary elegance.
Marking the spirit of the country’s most vibrant cultural festival, the premises of Crowne Plaza near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport came alive as a lively Baishakhi fairground, welcoming families and guests of all ages into a joyful celebration.
The atmosphere buzzed with laughter and nostalgia as families took delight in traditional rides like the iconic Nagordola (Ferris Wheel) and a cheerful Choo Choo train, alongside a jumping castle, bubble house, carousel, and lively balloon shooting games.
The colourful fairground was further enriched with interactive game stalls, a classic bioscope, enchanting folk performances, magic shows, and puppet theatre—bringing timeless traditions to life. Guests immersed themselves in creative corners featuring Alpana art, face painting, and block mehendi, while exploring thoughtfully decorated stalls offering beloved Baishakhi treats.
Adding to the festive indulgence, ‘Dhakaiya Roshona Bilash’ presented a grand Baishakh buffet brunch and Dinner inspired by the rich culinary heritage of Old Dhaka. The spread celebrated authentic Bengali flavours with signature dishes such as Shorisha Ilish, Ilish Polao, and traditional Puran Dhaka Kacchi, alongside an array of kebabs and kathi rolls. The experience was sweetly completed with festive delights like Nakshi Pitha, Vapa Pitha, and Gurer Roshogolla before ending on a dramatic note with the fiery charm of Agun Paan.
To make the celebration even more delightful, guests enjoyed an exclusive ‘Buy 1 Get 3’ offer on the buffet when using selected bank cards.
Reflecting on the event, Ashwani Nayar, General Manager of Crowne Plaza Dhaka Airport, shared, ‘These festivities reflected the hotel’s long-term vision. Through culturally rooted, high-impact experiences like ‘Esho He Baishakh’, we hoped to become a genuine part of the community, making the hotel a place where global hospitality standards seamlessly blended with local culture and emotion.’
The vibrant festivities were held in partnership with Bank Asia, Air Astra, SnapnKeep, 7UP, Bellissimo, and Tinker’s Tea.
