Measles infections continue to rise across Bangladesh as seven more children have died from the disease and related symptoms in the past 24 hours.

On Thursday, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said one of the deaths was of a confirmed measles case, while six others were recorded as stemming from related symptoms.

During the same 24-hour period, 155 new measles cases were confirmed nationwide, taking the total number of detected cases to 7,305.

Since Mar 15, the total death toll from confirmed measles cases has reached 70, while 369 others have died with symptoms consistent with the disease.

Data shows that Dhaka has recorded the highest number of symptomatic deaths at 147, followed by 78 in the Rajshahi Division.

The DGHS noted that 1,106 people were hospitalised with measles or related symptoms over the past day, while 1,136 patients returned home after recovery.

During this window, Dhaka hospitals saw the highest intake with 440 new admissions, whereas Rangpur reported the lowest with 10.
