Prime minister’s adviser and BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Thursday met the family of slain child Ramisa Akter in their Pallabi home in Dhaka on the day of Eid-ul-Azha.
He also conveyed the prime minister’s condolences to the family.
On May 19, second-grade student Ramisa Akter was brutally murdered after being raped in Pallabi.
Rizvi also stated that assurances had been given to ensure the highest punishment in the killing incident.
He said, “I have come on behalf of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to inquire about Ramisa’s family. The Prime Minister has also taken responsibility for the education of Ramisa’s elder sister, Raisa. We will all stand beside Raisa’s family as their relatives.”
An emotional atmosphere was created as Ramisa’s father broke down in tears during the visit.
BNP health affairs secretary Dr Md Rafiqul Islam, member Mahbubul Islam, Chhatra Dal vice-president Dr Touhidur Rahman Awal and North South University Director Dr Iqbalur Rahman Rokon were also present there.
