A team from Bangladesh named Calibrator-Z has won a silver medal at the Seoul International Invention Fair (SIIF) 2025, an annually held global tech innovation competition.

This year's SIIF was held at Coex Hall C, Seoul, Korea, from December 3 to 6, 2025. The event was hosted by the Ministry of Intellectual Property (MOIP), South Korea, with the Korea Invention Promotion Association (KIPA) as the organiser. More than 575 teams competed at the SIIF 2025 from 19 countries, including Poland, Spain, Switzerland, USA, Vietnam, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, and Germany.

According to the SIIF 2025 website, the organisers designed the event as a comprehensive exhibition for creative innovations. The aim was to promote a collaborative learning environment for information exchange, along with technology transfer and commercialisation.

The Bangladeshi team showcased a project named 'Bluewave Clean Tech', a solar-powered smart water-cleaning robot. According to the team, the robot moves through polluted watery places to test water quality and automatically clean dirty water. It uses advanced electro-coagulation technology to remove harmful substances such as heavy metals, chemicals, and germs, explains the team.

The team was led by Abdullah Ibnah Hasan (Dhaka College alumni), co-led by Md Maruf Miah (Nirjhor Cantonment College alumni) & Jarif Ahmed (Kent State University), and the members were Jayed Abdullah, Khalid Bin Walid, Istiak Ahmmed, Abir Hossen, Md Jakaria Miah, and Samir Ahamad.

Team leader Abdullah shared that leading a young team in a field dominated by highly experienced global innovators was one of the toughest challenges he faced. Co-lead Maruf echoed a similar sentiment, sharing the tedious process required months of sleepless nights and relentless testing.
