A young man died from electrocution just hours after bringing his newlywed wife home in Kushtia’s Daulatpur upazila.

The incident occurred around 2:00am today in the Gacher Diar Schoolpara area under Hogolbaria union.

The deceased was identified as Ahmed Anas Bappi, 22, said Daulatpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Khaledur Rahman.

Family members said the marriage ceremony had taken place two months ago. Yesterday afternoon, Anas brought his newlywed wife, Saira, home after completing the formalities.

Saira is from Bahermadi area under Philipnagar union in the same upazila.

A wedding reception was scheduled for this noon, with preparations continuing until late at night to arrange a dining area and erect a pandal for guests at the house.

Anas was also present there, overseeing the preparations.

He was electrocuted while moving a stand fan, said local union parishad member Milon Hossain.

The OC said police were sent to the site after receiving the news.

“It is an extremely tragic incident. Police are monitoring the overall situation,” he said.
