Maria Sol Messi, the younger sister of Lionel Messi, was involved in a serious road accident in Miami that left her with burns and multiple fractures, forcing her to postpone her wedding scheduled for January 3.

According to Argentine news media Clarin, the news was first revealed by Argentine journalist Angel de Brito on the television show LAM and later confirmed by both Maria Sol herself and her mother, Celia Cuccittini.

Although the injuries were significant, family sources confirmed that Maria Sol is out of danger and will undergo a period of rehabilitation.

According to Celia Cuccittini, Maria Sol suffered a medical episode while driving her SUV, which caused her to lose control of the vehicle and crash into a wall. As a result of the accident, she sustained a burn to her wrist, fractures in two vertebrae, and a broken heel.

Maria Sol had been planning to marry her longtime partner, Julian Arellano, on January 3 in Rosario, Santa Fe. The couple, who have been together for 12 years, were already in Rosario with Lionel Messi and other family members to celebrate the holiday season when the decision was made to postpone the wedding. Arellano currently serves as the head coach of Inter Miami's Under-19 team.
