Ridesharing app Uber on Wednesday announced the launch of a hybrid subscription model for its Uber Bike drivers in Bangladesh, offering greater flexibility in how they access trips and earn on the platform.

The new model provides drivers with the option to choose a subscription format that works best for them, making it easier for both full-time and part-time drivers to drive with Uber.

The launch builds on Uber's subscription model introduced in Dhaka in 2023 and is designed to improve the overall experience for both drivers and riders while encouraging more trips to take place on the Uber platform.

Street-hailing and trips taken outside the app remain a challenge in Dhaka's bike-hailing ecosystem. When trips are taken off-platform, riders and drivers miss out on key safety protections such as GPS tracking, insurance coverage, and in-app safety features. By offering drivers more flexible ways to access trips on the platform, Uber expects hybrid subscriptions to improve reliability for riders and help reduce offline trips.

With hybrid subscriptions, drivers can benefit from zero commission on trips, allowing them to keep all their earnings while choosing a subscription structure that suits their driving patterns. Uber believes the new model will create greater earning opportunities and flexibility, particularly for drivers who drive on the platform part-time.
