A Bangladeshi young man was detained by India’s Border Security Force for alleged intrusion through the Patgram border in Lalmonirhat on Saturday.
Rashedul Islam, 45, a resident of Baura of Patgram, was detained at about 3:30pm, said Patgram police officer-in-charge Nazmul Islam.
Rashedul entered India near the Dangatary Border Outpost, local people said.
BGB-61 Battalion commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Musahid Masum said that they were trying to communicate with the Indian guards to bring back the Bangladeshi.
‘We have already requested a flag meeting, but the Indians did not respond,’ he added.
