Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain took to social media to express his excitement about his Big Bash League participation.

Rishad posed for a photo wearing the Hobart Hurricanes jersey and, posting the photo on Facebook, he wrote: "Finally wearing the Hobart Hurricanes kit -- feels amazing to have it on! Eyes on the game."

Last Tuesday, the leg-spinner flew to Australia to play in the Big Bash League. Rishad may make his BBL debut on December 16 in a match against the Sydney Thunder.

Rishad Hossain was called up for the previous edition of Australia's franchise tournament as well, but due to his commitments in the BPL and the national team, he couldn't go.

This time, amid uncertainty surrounding the BPL, he signed early with the Big Bash team. The BCB had no objections to granting him the NOC.

Only one Bangladeshi has played in the Big Bash before. In the 2013–14 season, ace Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan played two matches for the Adelaide Strikers. In the following season, he played four matches for the Melbourne Renegades.

Apart from Rishad, there are two more foreign players in the Hobart Hurricanes squad -- England's all-rounders Rehan Ahmed and Chris Jordan. Rehan, like Rishad, is a leg-spinning all-rounder, while Jordan is known as a pace-bowling all-rounder.

Rishad gained global attention in the 2024 T20 World Cup. He was praised for his excellent bowling. Since then, multiple franchise leagues have shown interest in him.
