Senior citizens and persons with disabilities or special needs will receive a special discount of 25 per cent on the ticket for travelling by Bangladesh Railway's trains and metro rail services from May 25, according to a government decision.

Bangladesh Railway and Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited, the operator of the metro rail system, issued separate press releases in this regard on Sunday.

The releases read that the government had taken the decision.

Senior citizen (65 years and above) passengers will get a special discount of 25 per cent on tickets subject to age verification by showing their national identity card.

The releases also read that persons with disabilities or special needs will get a special discount of 25 per cent on tickets by showing their ‘Suborno’ identity card of the social welfare ministry.
