M Hafizuddin Khan, former adviser to the caretaker government, passed away this evening at a private hospital in Uttara, Dhaka, due to old-age complications.
He was 87.

He left behind his wife, two daughters and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.

He was chairman of the Board of Trustees of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB).

Hafizuddin Khan, also former Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh, was rushed to Uttara Crescent Hospital after he complained of chest pain in the morning, his niece Moushumi Mostafa told The Daily Star.

He was later put on life support and pronounced dead around 6:00pm, she said. His body was kept at Jahanara Clinic’s mortuary in Uttara.

His two daughters, who live abroad, are expected to arrive in Dhaka today. Hafizuddin will be buried in his village home in Rahmatganj of Sirajganj Sadar upazila on Friday.
