Walton began exporting printed circuit board assemblies or PCBA and various technology products to the United States on Thursday, said a press release.
Posts, telecommunications and information technology minister Fakir Mahbub Anam, also science and technology minister, and prime minister’s ICT adviser Rehan Asif Asad inaugurated the PCBA export shipment by cutting a ribbon at Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC’s headquarters at Chandra in Gazipur.
Gazipur-1 MP Md Mujibur Rahman, Walton Hi-Tech Industries managing director SM Mahbubul Alam, directors SM Nurul Alam Rezvi and SM Monjurul Alam Ovee, among others, attended the event.
The products are being imported by SAFEPRO Technologies, a Wisconsin-based technology company renowned for providing life-saving security solutions for educational institutions and public facilities across America.
Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam said, ‘Walton is amazing. We are highly impressed by the scale, sophistication and quality of its manufacturing facilities. Walton has demonstrated that Bangladesh is capable of producing world-class technology products. Walton is not only manufacturing a wide range of electronics and technology products but also exporting them to various markets around the world, including the United States. Walton is a matter of our national pride.’
He added that the government remained committed to supporting domestic industries and enhancing their global competitiveness.
‘In the proposed budget for FY2026-27, we have taken initiatives aimed at encouraging locally manufactured products. We are reviewing the tax structure to provide greater incentives for Bangladeshi industries and help them expand further,’ he said.
Earlier, the minister and the PM’s ICT adviser were welcomed at Walton headquarters and attended a documentary presentation highlighting Walton’s journey and achievements.
They later visited the company’s product display centre before touring several manufacturing facilities, including the Surface Mount Technology motherboard production unit, television panel clean room, PCB manufacturing unit and mold and die facilities.
