A mobile court conducted a drive in Paba Upazila of the Rajshahi Metropolitan area on Wednesday through a joint initiative of the district administration and the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI).

During the operation, M/s NS Medical International, located at Baya Bazar in Paba Upazila, was fined Tk 40,000 for producing and packaging sanitary napkins without obtaining BSTI approval and product packaging registration certification.

All raw materials used in the production of sanitary napkins were seized and destroyed during the drive. The owner of the establishment, Abdul Momin, also provided a written undertaking stating that he would not produce, sell, or distribute such products in the future without obtaining BSTI approval.

In a separate action, M/s Bandhan Doi Ghar of the same area was fined Tk 10,000 for producing and selling fermented milk (doi) in an unhygienic environment without BSTI’s quality certification.

In total, two establishments were fined Tk 50,000 during the drive.

The mobile court was led by Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Paba, Mohammad Mehdi Hasan. Officials from the BSTI Rajshahi office assisted in the operation under the leadership of Assistant Director (Metrology) Azizul Hakim.

Authorities said such drives by the BSTI Divisional Office will continue in the public interest.
