The Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME) today ordered the closure of all medical colleges, dental colleges, Institutes of Health Technology, and Medical Assistant Training Schools across the country from tomorrow (March 10, 2026).

According to two separate circulars signed by Prof Mohiuddin Matubber, director (medical education) at the DGME, the closure will remain in effect until the end of the Eid‑ul‑Fitr vacation.

Prof Mohiuddin said the decision was taken considering the “overall situation.”

The move comes a day after the government directed all public and private universities to close from today. The Education Ministry cited the need to save electricity and energy in order to cope with the global crisis.
