Actors, directors and singers began visiting polling centres in the capital and other parts of the country from Thursday morning to cast their votes, with many sharing photos and reflections from the experience on social media.

Director Ashfaque Nipun travelled to Chattogram on Wednesday (February 11) to take part in the voting. After casting his ballot, he shared a video message encouraging citizens to exercise their democratic right.

Addressing young voters, Nipun said, “Let the youth’s first vote be in favour of a new Bangladesh.”

In the caption accompanying the video, he wrote, “Voting done. I went to the centre at 7:30am. Because of the long line, my turn came at 8:10am. The environment was very pleasant, voters were enthusiastic, and the officials were very cordial—it feels good to have voted.”

Earlier, upon arriving in Chattogram, Nipun shared his observations about the election atmosphere. “Even before entering my home, I heard campaign songs of candidates from the two major electoral alliances at several places. After many years, I saw election tables set up at the intersections in our neighbourhood. Songs are playing,” he wrote.

Referring to discussions surrounding the election, he added that he had previously heard speculation that polls might not be held. He thanked Professor Muhammad Yunus and the interim government for organising the election and described the atmosphere as festive.
