The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has directed the offices concerned to take necessary initiatives to immediately recruit manpower for the vacant posts of grades 13 to 16 in the country's health institutions.

The recruitment will be made under the Health Services Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on the government's agenda to recruit 100,000 health staffers to fill the manpower shortage in the health sector, particularly in the health institutions.

The directive was issued in a letter dated August 20 signed by Prof Dr. Jalal Uddin Mohammad Rumi, director (Administration) of the DGHS.

According to the Non-Medical Employees Recruitment Rules 2018, the DGHS has asked to take initiatives to fill the vacant posts quickly through promotion and direct recruitment.

In addition, in health institutions where advertisements for vacant posts were published and applications were accepted until February 10, 2026, but the recruitment process could not be completed, directive was given to publish new recruitment advertisements with clearance certificates for new vacant posts.

The recruitment process will have to be completed in coordination with the previous applications, the letter said, suggesting that if there are any cases or administrative complications related to recruitment, steps will have to be taken to resolve them quickly.

Information on the progress of recruitment of all health institutions should be sent to the DGHS by the 5th of every month in the prescribed format to Prof Dr. Jalal Uddin Mohammad Rumi.

Instruction was also given to send the information by e-mail or as hard copy.

The letter said that the decision of fresh recruitment was taken at the monthly coordination meeting of the Health Services Division of the Health Ministry on July 14.

The decision has been taken in line with the election manifesto of the ruling party, said the DGHS letter.

Following instructions of the Prime Minister, necessary initiatives have been taken to recruit 100,000 health workers to fill the manpower shortage in all institutions under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare as per the election manifesto, it added.
