Ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election and the referendum, the Election Commission (EC) has sent ballots via the Postal Vote BD mobile app to 518,603 in-country voters registered under the In-Country Postal Voting (ICPV) system.
This is to ensure the voting rights of expatriates, election officials, and individuals in legal custody.
Salim Ahmad Khan, team leader of the “OCV-SDI” project on expatriate voter registration, disclosed the information to BSS.
He said that ballots had been sent via the Postal Vote BD mobile app to 518,603 voters located within the country under the ICPV system. Of them, 7,367 voters have received their ballots, while 4,902 voters have completed voting. In addition, 2,394 voters have submitted their ballots at post offices or postal drop boxes.
Meanwhile, according to the EC, 458,059 expatriate voters who registered through the Postal Vote BD mobile app have already cast their votes.
Data provided by the EC show that as of 11:30am on Saturday, a total of 766,862 ballots sent to expatriate destinations through the Postal Vote BD mobile app had reached the respective countries. Among them, 518,345 expatriate voters have received their ballots, and 458,059 have completed voting. A total of 144,860 expatriate ballots have so far returned to Bangladesh.
It may be mentioned that 1.533 million voters have registered to vote through the postal ballot system in this election.
