Pakistan batter Babar Azam has been ruled out of his team's first Test against hosts Bangladesh due to a knee injury, sources confirmed to The Daily Star.
Babar suffered an injury to his left knee during the practice session on Thursday, a day before the series opener in Mirpur. The 31-year-old batter had to cut short his training and later went for an MRI scan, team management sources had confirmed this evening.
Later PCB confirmed that the batter has been ruled out.
“Babar Azam will not be available for the first Test match against Bangladesh due to a injury in left knee. The team's medical panel is currently assessing his condition. Further updates will be shared in due course,” a PCB official press release read on Thursday.
