17 sailors of the Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) vessel MV Banglar Joyjatra are set to return home tomorrow after completing a months-long voyage that was delayed by regional tensions in the Persian Gulf.

The sailors signed off from the vessel at South Africa's Durban Port and are scheduled to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 5:25pm tomorrow aboard an Emirates flight via Dubai, Chief Engineer Rashidul Hasan told The Daily Star.

The crew members are returning home after the vessel completed its voyage following months of uncertainty in the Persian Gulf.

On June 23, MV Banglar Joyjatra successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz with 31 Bangladeshi sailors on board, ending a 115-day delay caused by heightened regional tensions.

The vessel entered the Persian Gulf in early February after crossing the Strait of Hormuz from India. It later loaded steel coils at a port in Qatar before reaching Jebel Ali Port in the United Arab Emirates on February 27.

Escalating military tensions subsequently turned the Strait of Hormuz into a high-risk shipping route, leaving the vessel stranded inside the Gulf despite several attempts to leave.

According to BSC officials, the Ministry of Shipping and the state-owned shipping corporation remained in regular contact with the crew throughout the prolonged delay and closely monitored the vessel's movement.
