Gold prices in Bangladesh climbed again on Saturday as the Bangladesh Jewellers Association raised the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 7,640 per bhari, reversing the previous day’s cut amid a fresh rise in local market rates for pure gold.

According to BAJUS, the price of 22-carat gold now stands at Tk 262,090 per bhari (11.664 grams).

The revised rates were announced at around 10:00am and took effect immediately.

BAJUS announced the hike in a notification, signed by its standing committee chairman, Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen, citing an increase in the price of pure gold on the local market and an overall assessment of the situation.

The latest increase highlights continued volatility in the domestic gold market, as BAJUS adjusted prices upward just a day after making a reduction of the same amount.

Prices of other gold categories also moved higher.

The price of 21-carat gold rose by Tk 7,290 to Tk 250,193 per bhari, while 18-carat gold increased by Tk 6,241 to Tk 214,443 per bhari.

Traditional-method gold was revised up by Tk 5,074 to Tk 175,485 per bhari.

BAJUS said that a government-mandated 5 per cent value-added tax and a minimum 6 per cent making charge, set by the association, must be added to the selling price of gold jewellery.

The making charge may vary depending on the design and quality of the jewellery.

So far in 2026, BAJUS has revised gold prices 26 times, increasing rates on 17 occasions and reducing them nine times, reflecting persistent fluctuations in both global and local markets.

Silver prices, however, remained unchanged.

The price of 22-carat silver stood at Tk 6,357 per bhari, 21-carat silver at Tk 6,065 per bhari, 18-carat silver at Tk 5,190 per bhari, and traditional-method silver at Tk 3,907 per bhari.

This year, silver prices have been revised 17 times, with rates increased on 10 occasions and reduced seven times.
