A moving story rooted in the Liberation War and the spirit of the Language Movement is set to reach television audiences through the special drama “Amar Bornomala”.
The story follows Wahab, the son of a freedom fighter. In 1971, under the cover of night, Razakars set fire to their home in a sudden attack. Amid the chaos, Wahab’s father placed a book of the Bengali alphabet in his young son’s hands and tearfully urged him to “protect my alphabet”.
Though the young boy managed to escape clutching the book, his parents were burned to death before his eyes. From that moment on, Wahab took it upon himself to carry forward his father’s legacy by preserving and passing on “Amar Bornomala” to future generations.
The drama, written and directed by Simanto Sajal, features performances by Tariq Anam Khan, Mousumi Hamid and others.
According to the director, the special production will air on February 21 at 8 pm on Maasranga Television, marking both Shaheed Day and International Mother Language Day.
The drama intertwines the sacrifices of the Liberation War with the enduring significance of the Bengali language, paying tribute to the historical struggle that shaped the nation’s identity.
