A 55-year-old man died after reportedly suffering a stroke while waiting to cast his vote at a polling centre in Chattogram city on Thursday morning.
The incident occurred at about 7:35am at the Kazir Dewri Boys High School centre, said presiding officer Faruk Ahmed.
The deceased was identified as Monu Mia, son of Tenu Mia, a resident of Battery Goli area under Baghmoniram in Chattogram-14 constituency.
According to witnesses, Monu Mia arrived at the polling centre early in the morning to cast his vote. While standing in a queue, he suddenly felt dizzy and fell down.
Family members rushed him to a nearby National Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
