A man was arrested last night on charge of raping his 15-year-old daughter at a village in Patharghata upazila of Barguna.

The arrest was made after the victim’s mother filed a case against him with Patharghata Police Station yesterday. Later, the girl, a class nine student, also submitted a written complaint against her father, said the police station's Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mangchenla.

According to the complaints, the victim lived with her father and stepmother. The complaint alleges that the father raped her twice at their home in January and forced her to take birth control pills afterward.

The father is scheduled to be produced before the court today, the OC said said, adding that the victim will also appear in the court for further instructions.

Contacted, Additional Superintendent of Police Shahed Ahmed Chowdhury said the accused has been arrested and that the incident is being investigated thoroughly, with legal action underway.
