Six more people with measles symptoms have died across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, including three in the Sylhet Division.

During the same period, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed 75 new measles cases, according to the daily bulletin on Sunday.

The health authority has been publishing measles data since Mar 15.

So far, 98 people have died of confirmed cases of measles, while another 775 people have died after developing symptoms consistent with the disease.

The Dhaka Division has recorded the highest number of deaths among patients with measles symptoms, at 338.

It is followed by Sylhet with 122 deaths, Rajshahi with 91, Mymensingh with 72, Chattogram with 61, Barishal with 46, Khulna with 32, and Rangpur with 13.

The DGHS also said 988 people with measles symptoms sought treatment at hospitals across the country over the past 24 hours, of whom 938 were admitted.

Of those admitted, 312 were in the Dhaka Division, 260 in Chattogram, 138 in Barishal, 91 in Sylhet, 66 in Mymensingh, 38 in Khulna, 20 in Rajshahi, and 13 in Rangpur.

The total number of patients admitted to hospitals with measles has now reached 118,382 nationwide, of whom 114,142 have been discharged.

The number of suspected measles cases across the country has risen to 136,320, while the total number of laboratory-confirmed measles cases now stands at 17,115.
