Members of the Bangladesh Judicial Service (lower court judges) have been barred from being directly or indirectly involved in commercial coaching activities, either online or offline.

The directive was issued last night in a circular signed by Supreme Court Registrar General Muhammad Habibur Rahman Siddiquee, following instructions from Chief Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury.

The circular said the directive was issued to uphold the professional discipline, impartiality and dignity of judicial service members and to maintain public confidence in the judiciary.

It warned that disciplinary action would be taken against any judicial service member who violates the provisions under the applicable laws and rules.

Under the directive, judicial service members cannot use, or allow others to use, their names, designations, photographs or identities to promote commercial coaching activities.

They are also prohibited from disclosing, supplying or using any confidential, unpublished or official information obtained through their judicial duties for coaching activities.

Besides, they cannot prepare, edit, publish or supply educational materials for commercial coaching programmes, either directly or through digital platforms.
