Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy Z TriFold, its first smartphone with a screen that folds twice. The new device is designed to transform from a standard phone into a 10-inch tablet.

According to Samsung, the TriFold is powered by a custom version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform and includes a 200 MP camera. To support the larger screen, Samsung has equipped it with a 5,600 mAh battery, its largest ever in a foldable phone, split across the device's three panels.

Samsung stated it developed new hinge and display technology specifically for the dual-folding design. The phone uses two different-sized hinges and reinforced display layers intended to improve durability and minimise the crease. The exterior incorporates materials like titanium and a high-strength aluminium alloy.

When fully unfolded, the 10-inch display enables multitasking across three separate app windows simultaneously, says Samsung. The device also features a standalone version of Samsung's DeX software, allowing users to create a desktop-like workspace on the phone itself without connecting to an external monitor.

The phone integrates Galaxy AI features, such as photo editing tools and browsing assistance, optimised for the larger screen. It also supports an enhanced version of Google's Gemini Live with multimodal AI that can respond to on-screen content. Samsung highlighted that the screen is designed for media consumption, with a high brightness rating and a 120Hz refresh rate.

The Galaxy Z TriFold is scheduled to go on sale first in South Korea on December 12, 2025, followed by other markets including the United States, China, and Singapore.
