Bangladesh has recorded two more deaths with measles symptoms in a 24-hour count.

Another 79 people tested positive for measles, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said, bdnews24.com reports. 

This year, 100 people have died from confirmed measles and 899 with measles symptoms, taking the combined toll to 999.

The health directorate said in its regular bulletin that one patient died in Barishal, while the other died in Sylhet in the 24 hours from 8am on Tuesday.

The DGHS has been publishing measles data since Mar 15.

Dhaka Division has recorded the highest number of symptom-linked deaths at 403, followed by Sylhet with 156.

Rajshahi Division recorded 92, Chattogram 65, Barishal 57, Mymensingh 75, Khulna 37 and Rangpur 14.

Another 1,157 people with measles symptoms went to hospitals nationwide, with 1,089 admitted: Dhaka Division 366, Rajshahi 27, Sylhet 140, Chattogram 256, Barishal 125, Mymensingh 75, Khulna 80 and Rangpur 20.

Total admissions reached 146,359, with 140,850 discharged.

Suspected cases stood at 166,461 and confirmed cases at 19,835.
