Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have arrested an alleged associate of listed criminal Subrata Bain in connection with an attempted murder case filed with Motijheel Police Station.

The arrestee was identified as Md Suleiman, alias Tanim Reza, alias Bappi, 46.

A team from Motijheel Police Station arrested him from the Motijheel area on Friday morning, said Mohammad Harun Or Rashid, deputy commissioner of DMP's Motijheel Division.

The police official said Bappi was named in a case filed over a shooting at a BNP leader's office in Motijheel several months ago. The case was lodged with Motijheel Police Station on charges of attempted murder following the incident.

According to police, Bappi is accused in seven criminal cases, including one for allegedly abetting suicide.

Harun said drives are underway to arrest Bappi's associates and recover the firearms allegedly used in the shooting.
