The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) this evening arrested the prime suspect in the killing and beheading of a seven‑year‑old girl in Pallabi.

The accused, Sohel, 32, was detained by a team from Mirpur Division Police in Narayanganj's Fatullah around 7:00pm.

Confirming the arrest, Deputy Commissioner (Mirpur Division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Mostak Sarkar told The Daily Star that Sohel had gone into hiding after the murder.

The victim, Ramisa Akhter, a class‑two student, lived with her family in an apartment in Pallabi’s Section 11, and was killed around 10:30am today, said Hasan Basir, officer-in-charge of Pallabi Police Station.
