Apple has announced a new family of displays designed for Mac users, introducing an updated Studio Display alongside an all-new high-end model called Studio Display XDR.
Both displays feature 27-inch 5K screens, 12MP Centre Stage cameras with Desk View support, studio-quality three-microphone arrays, six-speaker sound systems with Spatial Audio, and Thunderbolt 5 connectivity. They are available for pre-order from March 4, with availability from March 11.
The new Studio Display builds on the previous model with a 27-inch 5K Retina screen offering over 14 million pixels, 600 nits of brightness, and P3 wide colour support. The 12MP Centre Stage camera now includes Desk View, which simultaneously shows the user and a top-down view of their desk during video calls.
The six-speaker sound system features four force-cancelling woofers delivering 30% deeper bass than the previous generation, plus two high-performance tweeters. Thunderbolt 5 connectivity provides two ports, allowing users to daisy-chain up to four displays or connect high-speed accessories. Two additional USB-C ports are available for peripherals.
The display comes with a Thunderbolt 5 Pro cable offering up to 96W of charging power, enough to fast-charge a 14-inch MacBook Pro. It is available with standard or nano-texture glass, and can be configured with a tilt-adjustable stand, a tilt- and height-adjustable stand, or a VESA mount adapter. Pricing starts at $1,599.

The all-new Studio Display XDR targets pro users requiring advanced display technology. It features a 27-inch 5K Retina XDR display with a mini-LED backlight and 2,304 local dimming zones, delivering up to 1,000 nits of SDR brightness and 2,000 nits of peak HDR brightness with a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio.
The display supports both P3 and Adobe RGB wide colour gamuts, achieving over 80% Rec. 2020 coverage for HDR video editing. A 120Hz refresh rate enables smooth motion, with Adaptive Sync supporting variable refresh rates between 47Hz and 120Hz for gaming and video playback.
Apple has added DICOM medical imaging presets and a Medical Imaging Calibrator to support diagnostic radiology workflows, pending FDA clearance. The display includes the same camera and audio system as the standard Studio Display, with Thunderbolt 5 connectivity and up to 140W of charging power through the included cable.
Studio Display XDR comes with a tilt- and height-adjustable stand featuring a counterbalancing arm, with an optional VESA mount adapter available. It replaces the Pro Display XDR and starts at $3,299.
