A Dhaka metropolitan magistrate court on Saturday recorded the confessional statement of Majedul Haque Helal, the alleged supplier of the firearms used in the killing of Inqilab Mancha convener Sharif Osman Hadi in December last year.
Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Arifur Rahman recorded his statement after the Criminal Investigation Department had produced Majedul before the court after interrogating him for three days in custody in the case, Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s deputy commissioner for prosecution, Ashish Bin Hasan, said.
On April 15, the court of additional chief metropolitan magistrate Jashita Islam allowed the police to take Majedul in custody for three days for interrogation in the case filed with the Paltan police station in December last year.
Hadi, also an organiser of the July uprising, died at a hospital in Singapore on December 18, six days after he was shot in the head in Dhaka on December 12, 2025.
On January 15, a Dhaka court ordered the CID to conduct further probes in the murder case as the plaintiff of the case filed a no-confidence petition against the charge sheet submitted by the Detective Branch of police.
Amid protests, the interim government on February 6 sought assistance from the United Nations to ensure a proper investigation into the murder.
Inqilab Mancha member secretary Abdullah Al Zaber filed the case on December 14.
