Dhaka University’s theatre and performance studies department teacher, professor Israfil Shaheen, has participated in the 18th Asia-Pacific Bond of Theatre Schools Festival and Directors’ Conference 2025 in Shanghai of China, said a press release.
The five-day festival hosted by Shanghai Theatre Academy ended on Wednesday.
It comprised of eight theatre performance and five theatre workshops with conferences and symposiums at Huashan campus of the Shanghai Theatre Academy.
The festival was participated by 15 theatre schools from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, South Korea, India, Bangladesh, Australia, and New Zealand, as well as from Shanghai, Beijing, Yunnan, Guangxi, and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China.
Israfil Shaheen represented Bangladesh at the directors’ conference and the academic symposium on ‘Theatre · Future · AI’, conducted in-depth discussions on the impacts and transformations of future technologies on November 29.
He also conducted a three-day workshop on ‘Performing Healing - A New Multimedia Workshop on Theatre and Rehabilitation through Ethnographic Research’ at the Multifuncational Conference Room of the Shanghai Theatre Academy.
Israfil Shaheen, who graduated from India’s National School of Drama, chaired his department at DU from 2006 to 2009.
