A 10-year-old boy was allegedly raped in Chatkhil upazila of Noakhali yesterday after being lured under the pretext of plucking green coconuts.

Chatkhil Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Monnaf confirmed that the victim's father filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act last night.

The accused, Saiful Islam alias Mona, 40, allegedly took the child to a building rooftop around 11 am and raped him after threatening to shoot him.

The child reportedly suffered severe bleeding.

"Police operations are currently underway to arrest the accused," Monnaf told The Daily Star.

He added that Mona is a resident of Dashgharia village in Parakote union. He fled the scene immediately after the assault.

Family members found the child bleeding and rushed him to Chatkhil Upazila Health Complex for treatment, the OC further said.
