Television actor Tinu Karim passed away on Thursday, February 12, at around 12:00pm in Barishal after suffering a heart attack, shortly after casting his vote in the 13th national parliamentary election.
According to General Secretary of the Actors’ Equity Association Rashed Mamun Apu, Karim had gone to a polling centre in the morning to exercise his democratic right. After returning home, he suddenly felt unwell and was rushed to hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Earlier this year, the actor had returned home after a prolonged 40-day hospital stay that included ICU care and life support. Though he had been discharged in early January and appeared to have recovered, he suffered a fatal cardiac arrest at his village home.
Karim had been active in acting for over two decades. He made his television debut in 2001 with the drama “Sakkhor” and stepped into films in 2010 with “Opekkha”. Over the years, he appeared in numerous television dramas and commercials, including “Raat Jaga Phool” and “Alta Banu”, and gained widespread recognition through a mobile phone operator’s advertisement.
He is survived by his wife, Humayra Nowshin, and their 11-year-old daughter.
