A woman and her daughter were killed after a bus hit a battery-run auto-van in Bogura’s Kahaloo upazila today.

The deceased were identified as Jemi Khatun, 38, and her daughter Tonu, 20, both passengers of the van. They were residents of Kazipara area in the upazila, said Kahaloo Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shahidul Islam.

The accident occurred in Kazipara area on the Naogaon-Bogura regional highway this afternoon.

The OC said a Naogaon-bound AC bus of Evergreen Paribahan rammed into the van around 4:00pm before plunging into a roadside ditch, leaving the mother and daughter dead on the spot.

Police recovered the bodies and handed them over to the family members, the OC added.
