The death toll from measles and measles-like symptoms has risen to 1,002, with three more deaths reported in the last 24 hours until 8:00am today, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the total deaths, 100 were confirmed as measles cases, while 902 were suspected cases.
A total of 1,188 people were diagnosed with measles or measles-like symptoms in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 1.87 lakh since March 15, according to the DGHS.
Total 1,034 patients were admitted to hospitals in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of hospitalised patients to 1,47,393. Of them, 1,41,819 have already been discharged, leaving 5,574 patients hospitalised as of this morning.
The country has been experiencing an unprecedented measles outbreak since March this year. Although the government conducted an emergency measles vaccination campaign between April and May, deaths and hospital admissions have continued.
