Pubali Bank PLC recently organised an awareness programme, titled “Cashless Rajshahi”, in support of Bangladesh Bank’s “One Nation, One QR Payment (Bangla QR)” initiative to promote digital payments nationwide.
This year’s theme was “Cashless Transactions, A Smarter Bangladesh”.
Md Mizanur Rahman Minu, minister for land, inaugurated the programme as the chief guest, according to a press release.
Addressing the programme, Mizanur Rahman said financial literacy and the expansion of technology-driven banking services are essential to building a “Smart Bangladesh”.
He described initiatives such as those jointly undertaken by Bangladesh Bank and Pubali Bank PLC as highly commendable for bringing secure and modern banking services to people across the country, particularly in remote areas.
He also emphasised the importance of continuing such awareness programmes to encourage the wider adoption of digital transactions.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohammad Ali, managing director and CEO of Pubali Bank PLC, said the bank has been working relentlessly to expand modern, secure and technology-driven banking services across the country in line with the directives of Bangladesh Bank and the vision of Smart Bangladesh.
He said initiatives like “Cashless Rajshahi” would play a vital role in enhancing financial awareness and bringing digital banking services closer to people.
As part of the programme, the bank virtually unveiled 14 electronic banking booths across the Rajshahi region.
Azizur Rahman, director of Pubali Bank PLC, and Md Amzad Hossain Khan, executive director of Bangladesh Bank’s Rajshahi Office, attended the event.
Among others, Md Shahnewaz Khan, deputy managing director of Pubali Bank PLC; Md Bayazid Sarker and Md Nazim Uddin, directors of Bangladesh Bank’s Rajshahi Office; Md Rabiul Alam, deputy general manager and head of the alternative delivery channel division; and Md Sazidur Rahman, deputy general manager and head of the Rajshahi region, were also present.
