The Ganatantrik Jukta Front, an alliance of seven political parties, on Thursday officially launched its campaign for the upcoming Jatiya Sangsad election scheduled for February 12.
They began with the placement of wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka.
Speaking at a brief rally, the front’s central leaders—Bazlur Rashid Firoz, Mujahidul Islam Selim, and Khalequzzaman—pledged that, if elected, they would work to implement the spirit of the July Uprising of 2024.
The alliance said that its components are contesting the election with a shared commitment to a democratic transition in the country.
Addressing the supporters, Bazlur Rashid Firoz criticised the Election Commission, alleging that it had so far failed to ensure a level playing field for all political parties participating in the polls.
The leaders urged citizens to actively participate in the election to support the country’s democratic transition.
The event concluded with calls for unity among voters and political parties ahead of the election.
