Charges include obstructing government work

A case has been filed in connection with the attack on the officials of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) during an eviction drive in Dhaka's Mirpur on December 9.

Md Taslim Hossain, a DNCC surveyor, filed the case with Shah Ali Police Station last night, naming 31 individuals and 200-250 unnamed others.

According to the case statement, at around 1:50 pm on December 9, an eviction drive was conducted under the leadership of DNCC Executive Magistrate Marufa Begum to free the footpaths and roads in Mirpur-13.

At that time, a group of people attacked the city corporation team with iron rods and bamboo sticks and also hurled brickbats and stones at the officials present there.

The group also vandalised DNCC vehicles used in the drive, causing damages worth Tk 13.80 lakh.

Several city corporation staff members, including three drivers, were injured in the incident.
