Bangladesh completed a series comeback as opener Tanzid Tamim struck an unbeaten half-century to guide the Tigers to a four-wicket win over Zimbabwe in the third and final T20I in Bulawayo on Sunday, sealing the three-match series 2-1.

Chasing a modest target of 144, Bangladesh endured an early setback when opener Saif Hassan departed for four in the opening over. Tanzid and Parvez Emon then steadied the innings with a watchful 55-run partnership before Emon fell for a sluggish 24 off 22 balls.

Tanzid took control of the chase thereafter, bringing up a composed half-century while adding 63 runs with skipper Towhid Hridoy, who contributed a brisk 24 off 19 deliveries. The left-hander remained unbeaten on 66 from 58 balls, striking four sixes and a boundary to anchor Bangladesh's chase.

What appeared to be a straightforward finish, however, turned into a tense finale.

Needing just 22 runs from the final four overs, Bangladesh lost three wickets after Hridoy's dismissal at the end of the 16th over, allowing Zimbabwe a glimmer of hope.

The drama intensified in the final over with Bangladesh requiring five runs for victory. The visitors lost two wickets in the first three deliveries before Shak Mahedi survived what looked like a certain lbw dismissal on the fourth ball. The umpire ruled it a dead ball after a Zimbabwe fielder was deemed to have moved in front of the batter before the delivery.

Mahedi ensured there would be no further hiccups, smashing a boundary off the very next ball to seal victory with two deliveries to spare.

Earlier, an impressive 53-ball 73 from Dion Myers and a 38-ball 47 by opener Brian Bennett helped a labouring Zimbabwe post 143 for seven. No other batter apart from the duo could reach double figures. 

Mohammad Saifuddin proved expensive but claimed two wickets, conceding 35 runs, while Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain and Abdul Gaffar Saqlain took one wicket each for the Tigers.
