To strengthen environmentally responsible and sustainable banking practices, NCC Bank entered into a strategic partnership with DHL Express under “GoGreen Plus- Carbon Reduced Service”.
This collaboration marks a significant milestone in integrating environmental protection objectives with the delivery of financial services.
The agreement was formally signed and exchanged at a ceremony held at NCC Bank’s head office in Motijheel, Dhaka.
The signing was completed by M Shamsul Arefin, managing director of NCC Bank, and Md Miarul Haque, managing director of DHL Express (BD).
Senior officials from NCC Bank were present at the event included M Khurshed Alam, additional managing director; Md Zakir Anam and Mohammed Mizanur Rahman, deputy managing directors; Nighat Mumtaz, EVP & head of sustainable and women’s banking; Mohammad Mahe Alam, SVP & head of NCCB International Trade Services (NITS); Ragib Ahmed Siddique, FAVP, NCCB International Trade Services (Export); Representatives from DHL Express (BD) ASM Shakil, head of commercial; Md Hayatuzzaman Khan, Head of GMNC, and Md Arafat Hossain, national customer manager.
Managing director of NCC Bank M Shamsul Arefin stated that environmental responsibility is no longer merely a strategic requirement for sustainable business growth, but a moral commitment to future generations and the country’s long-term development.
He noted that through this partnership, NCC Bank will utilize Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), which will significantly contribute to reducing the Bank's carbon emissions.
He added that the initiative aligns with NCC Bank's Net Zero emissions target and its broader commitment to sustainable banking practices. Collaboration with a global organization like DHL Express, he emphasized, will further support NCC Bank's transition toward a green and resilient economy in line with international standards.
Managing Director of DHL Express Md Miarul Haque described the partnership as highly significant, noting that it goes beyond a commercial agreement.
He stated that the collaboration represents an important step toward fostering a responsible and environmentally friendly corporate culture in Bangladesh, aligned with global climate goals.
He further observed that NCC Bank's leadership in sustainability within the financial sector would encourage other institutions to adopt environmentally responsible practices. DHL Express, he added, remains committed to supporting customers' sustainability objectives through low-carbon logistics solutions.
