Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today met Fatema Tuz Zohra, mother of July Uprising martyr Abdullah Bin Zahid, and her younger son, Mahmudullah Bin Jisan, who is undergoing treatment for cancer.

The meeting took place around noon at the prime minister's office in the National Parliament Secretariat.

During the meeting, the PM inquired about Jisan's health and assured Fatema of a job.

Fatema's elder son, Zahid, was shot dead on the night of August 5, 2024. Two weeks later, her younger son, Jisan, was diagnosed with cancer. Seven months after Zahid's death, she also lost her husband.

The family subsequently faced severe financial hardship while struggling to continue Jisan's treatment.

According to officials, Tarique, then acting chairman of the BNP, extended support to the family through Amra BNP Poribar. Since then, Jisan's treatment has been coordinated by Atikur Rahman, the organisation's convener and now the additional press secretary to the prime minister.

The prime minister has continued to monitor Jisan's treatment through Atikur, and arrangements for his medical care are still being carried out under the prime minister's supervision.
