Police have arrested a 19-year-old Rohingya male from Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar, for alleged links to the Pakistani militant outfit Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

A team from Teknaf Police Station arrested the suspect, identified as Mahmudullah, from a Rohingya camp in Teknaf on Monday, Mohammad Ohidur Rahman, additional superintendent of police in Cox's Bazar, told The Daily Star today.

He also said Mahmudullah was detained based on information over his alleged links to TTP.

A case has been filed against him under the Anti-Terrorism Act with Teknaf Police Station, added Ohidur Rahman.

Saiful Islam, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station, said the suspect was a supporter of TTP and was found in a WhatsApp group associated with the militant organisation.
