Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said the government will soon present its 10-year energy plan to parliament.

Speaking at a rally in Banshkhali’s Baharchhara in Chattogram on Sunday, he urged people to be wary of those spreading misinformation over the current energy crisis.

“If you have a plan, present it before the people. But do not create disorder in the country or disturb public peace by spreading misleading statements,” he said.

The premier said the government had begun work on a planned energy and power system that would ensure reliable supplies to homes, schools, hospitals and factories, as well as gas for vehicles.

“God willing, we will present our 10-year energy and power plan to the nation through parliament,” he said.

Earlier, Tarique visited the Matarbari Deep-Sea Port in Cox’s Bazar’s Moheshkhali before flying to Banshkhali by helicopter.

He later distributed relief supplies and keys to new tin-roofed homes among flood-affected families.

With several thousand villagers attending, the event turned into a public rally.

Tarique said Bangladesh must focus on improving living standards, creating jobs and expanding industry.

He urged people to support the government’s plans, saying the BNP’s “source of all power is the people”.

He also called for vigilance against those seeking to disrupt peace and order, warning that instability would hurt businesses, investment and employment.

The government, he said, wants to turn the “200 million people’s 400 million hands” into a productive force for building the country.
