A two-and-a-half-year-old boy was killed and his parents injured when the motorcycle they were on collided with a dump truck on the Dhaka Bypass highway in Gazipur

Bogura resident Jewel Rana, 36, was travelling to Chattogram for work with his wife, Suraiya Akter Rupa, 30, and their son Safwan Hossain on a motorcycle when the accident occurred, Pubail Police Station Sub-Inspector Md Rafiq said.

The collision threw all three off the motorcycle. Safwan fell onto the road and died on the spot, while his parents sustained serious injuries.

Locals rescued the injured couple and took them to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.

Police recovered the child's body from the scene. The body has not yet been sent for autopsy, and a decision on further legal procedures will be taken later, police said.
