US Senator Bernie Sanders condemned US President Donald Trump's statement, saying such an attack would kill thousands of innocent men, women and children, and leave millions without clean water, electricity or health care.

He accused Trump of grossly violating international law and committing a major war crime, in a post on X.

Sanders urged Republicans in Congress to speak out, describing Trump’s proposal as immoral and the action of a “deranged individual suffering from extreme narcissism.”

“NOW IS THE TIME FOR THESE REPUBLICANS TO SPEAK UP. TRUMP MUST BE STOPPED. THIS WAR MUST END,” wrote Sanders.

Earlier Trump posted on X, “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don't want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS?

“We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!”
