The Ministry of Public Administration has issued a gazette notification declaring that all government and private offices across the country will operate from 9:00am to 4:00pm starting tomorrow (April 5).

The notification, signed by Farida Yesmin, deputy secretary of the ministry, was published today.

According to the directive, all government and private offices nationwide will follow the 9:00am to 4:00pm schedule until further notice. Friday and Saturday will remain weekly holidays. Emergency services will remain outside the purview of this new schedule.

Regarding banks and financial institutions, the notification states that the office hours will be from 9:00am to 4:00pm in line with Cabinet Division instructions. However, customer banking services will operate from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Bangladesh Bank has been directed to take necessary steps in this regard.

Furthermore, the Supreme Court will provide directions for determining court office schedules.

For private sector industrial units and factories, the Ministry of Labour and Employment will take measures to determine working hours according to the Bangladesh Labour Act, 2006, the notification added.
