After nearly a year of silence, the long-announced film "Golap", starring Nirab Hossain and Pori Moni, is officially back on track. Director Shamsul Huda confirmed that filming will begin in February, following extensive revisions to the script.
The project was first announced in January, with plans to start shooting the following month. However, despite early buzz, production never commenced. Huda explained that the delays stemmed from unresolved issues in the story.
"We had complications with the script, which kept us from going to set this year," he said. "After discussing with the full team, we have reworked and restructured the story. Our plan is to begin shooting in February."
The director added that he has already spoken to his lead actors regarding the new schedule and script updates. "We've remained in regular contact. They know about the revisions and the new plan. Once the production house gives the final green light, we'll announce the shoot date."
Nirab echoed the director's comments, noting that the cast and team wanted the story to be stronger before moving forward.
"We want to deliver a genuinely good film," he said. "So we were very particular about the script. Several refinements were needed, and some new scenes have been added. I was also out of the country for a long stretch this year, which contributed to the delay. Now the story is final and the screenplay almost complete. We hope to begin filming early next year and bring audiences a compelling film."
Produced under the banner of Golpowala Productions, "Golap" is being made as a political thriller with action elements. Set in a small town, the film portrays a tense political landscape. The story, dialogue and screenplay are written by Anik Biswas.
