Beyoncé has officially released the long-awaited track “Morning Dew (Donk)”, giving fans an early celebration ahead of the 20th anniversary reissue of her second studio album, “B’Day”.

The song arrived on streaming platforms on Saturday, kicking off a 60-day countdown to the anniversary edition of “B’Day”, scheduled for release on September 4, which also marks Beyoncé’s birthday. According to Parkwood Entertainment, the release is accompanied by a lyric video directed by Cliff Watts, featuring repurposed archival footage.

Originally written by Beyoncé, Pharrell Williams, The-Dream, and Darius Dixon, the track was produced by Beyoncé and Williams.

For years, “Morning Dew (Donk)” has remained one of the most sought-after unreleased songs among the BeyHive. Reportedly recorded in 2013, a short excerpt surfaced online in 2021 before the full version leaked two years later. Its official release marks Beyoncé’s first new music in two years and, according to Parkwood Entertainment, serves as a tribute to her devoted fanbase ahead of the “B’Day” anniversary celebrations.

Originally released on September 4, 2006, “B’Day” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 after selling more than 541,000 units in its opening week. The album produced several hit singles, including “Déjà Vu”, “Ring the Alarm”, and “Irreplaceable”. A deluxe edition followed in April 2007, featuring five additional songs alongside the “B’Day Anthology Video Album”, which included 13 music videos.

Beyoncé’s most recent studio album, the Grammy-winning “Cowboy Carter”, was released in 2024. Speculation continues that the final instalment of her “Renaissance” trilogy will explore rock music, although the singer has yet to confirm any details about the project.
