A motorcade carrying National Citizen Party (NCP) leaders has come under attack during the party’s “July March” programme in Sylhet’s Golapganj, after a similar incident in Habiganj.

Brickbats were hurled at the convoy near Chowmuhani intersection on Thursday, smashing the rear windscreen of the vehicle carrying Sarjis Alam, the party’s chief organiser for the northern region.

Local NCP leaders blamed Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) activists for the incident.

No casualties have been reported.

The attack took place around noon after the convoy left a meeting with families of those killed in the July Uprising at the Golapganj Municipal Auditorium, said Md Sabed Ali, chief of Golapganj Police Station.
